Staff Note: We have found that although this fridge is also rated to operate on a 24 VDC system it has a high voltage limit of 28 VDC. As a result it tends to shut off when it hits that voltage when the batteries are being charged. We have not seen consistency in this but as a safeguard if running on 24 volts, a DC to DC converter to stabilize the power at 24 VDC should be considered.
On 12 volts the fridge runs great as long as the wire size is sufficient. We love this calculator - one can enter any voltage, amperage, distance and wire size. Always shoot for less than 3% voltage drop. Use Estimated Resistance for general wire sizing.
Improper wire sizing can lead to appliance or component failure, not to mention potential for fire!!!
